Johanna Van Parijs

For Johanna Van Parijs, art does not simply occupy a space. It transforms it. Born in Belgium and now based in Costa Rica, She has spent the past two decades exploring the relationship between sculpture, architecture and interior space. Her practice encompasses large-scale artworks, sculptural furniture, installations and immersive environments, each created in response to its surroundings. Rooted in making, experimentation and an intuitive understanding of materials, her work seeks to create more than an object or an interior. It creates an atmosphere, a sense of identity, and an emotional connection to the space. Her work continues to travel internationally, while remaining deeply connected to the workshop where each piece begins with curiosity, craftsmanship and the desire to create something authentic.
